About Leeds

Leeds Reminds me of a town like New York City or Boston, but not quite as busy. The majority of people walk or use public transport. Leeds is about a 3 hour train ride north of London.
Leeds was established before 1086 as a small village. The population for the metropolitan district of Leeds today is over 700,000.

The "Flat" Stuff

Here are a few pictures of our Flat. This is the kitchen. There is a combo- washer/dryer behind one of those brown cabinets. I can probably fit one shirt and one pair of pants, but nonetheless, it does wash clothes. Behind another cabinet is the dishwasher.
This is our living room and balcony. It has been furnished with decent clean-line furniture.

This is the loo. My favorite feature of the room is the towel warmer rack. No cabinet space in here.

This is our bedroom. A bit of a squeeze to fit everything in here.
We like our flat. There is no a/c, but it is equipped with a great heater. I didn't think I would be able to say this, but I think our apartment in Houston is bigger than this one. Then again, everything in in England is compact.

Tea Time

Of course I had to put a picture of our first "tea time" and British "fish and chips."
[This one is for you Gary since you are a fan of taking food pictures!]
This place was also in Ilkley at a nice little restaurant over looking part of the city centre.

Later that afternoon...

Later Sunday afternoon, the snow cleared a bit and we were able to take the Metro up north to Ilkley. We really did not know anything about the town, except that it was more out of the city. The country side was beautiful with snow covering the ground and the rooftops and trees. We found a hilly area and hiked up part of it.
[Just a side note, Ben's knee is doing great. He started seeing major improvements on the plane ride over to England. Thank you Lord! He has not been held back from anything so far.]

"Let it snow baby! Let it reindeer!" -Ben

Sunday morning our plans changed a bit when we woke up to a blanket of snow. The flakes were quite large.

Because of the weather, church was cancelled. Besides, our transportation method was to walk about a mile to the Metro station and ride about 15 minutes to the area where the church was located.
The snow ended up being about 3 inches. Just a light dusing... :)

Up, up and Away...

After a 1 1/2 month delay, we are off to Leeds, England. Forunately you can't see all our luggage in this picture. :)

Note to self- People in England drive small cars even when they are picking up 4 Americans and all their luggage from the airport.

We were a sight tucked into the car with the other couple and bags all in our laps.
