Lake District

Kirk & Susan came to visit us a few days during their Spring Break. We had a great time. We took them to the Lake District. The first stop was Keswick. Keswick is a small, cute little town. They had a market and different booths set up the Saturday we stopped in. We enjoyed the fudge and mint cakes and tasty sweets.
Always stop for tea time! We had the sampler platter with our tea- scones, muffins, tea cakes, etc.
The Lake District is the largest National Park area in England. It consists of two different National Parks and is located on the west coast.
There are trails all over the mountainous area. There are over 10 lakes in the area.
Overlooking Keswick- the largest town in the Lake District.

We are surrounded by the green mossy stuff. We called it Lichen. It was really soft and covered most of the ground. This is also the spot where the four of us had our church service for Sunday.
If you look closely you can see Kirk, Susan, and Ben.
Pictures just don't capture the full beauty of God's creation.
The rock wall behind Kirk and Susan is common all over England. The slate stone was used long ago to build walls to separate property. Driving along, there are stone walls all on the sides of the mountains and in the valleys. Most people in the area are sheep farmers.
This is our hostel in the Lake District near Buttermere Lake. The car behind the gate was our rent car. Ben quickly grew accustomed to driving on the left side of the road .
